| Farley's House, gallery, and Gardens. Monk's House , Rodmell |
Known as the home of the Surrealists, Farley's house was occupied by model and photographer Lee Miller and her husband painter and photographer Ronald Penrose from 1939.The house and galleries have enormous visual impact and the gardens include a sculpture garden and benefit from a backdrop of the south Downs. Monk's house built in the 16th Century is a National Trust property and was the country retreat of Virginia Woolf and her husband Leonard. It was a meeting place of the Bloomsbury Group . Our first visit is to Arundells in Salisbury - former home of Sir Edward Heath . It is one of the finest houses in the Cathedral Close and dates back to medieval times and is extensively restored . After the tour there will be free time to explore the Close and to venture into the town to discover more historic treasures. 1hour 40 mins travelling time. £45.00 P.P tickets on sale at the next lecture. | Michelham Priory and Anne of Cleves' house. |
We will spend the morning at the Priory which was founded by Augustinian canons in 1229. The site is steeped in history and during Tudor times suffered some destruction caused by the dissolution of the monastries.It is set on a picturesque moated island and has a medieval gatehouse and seven acres of beautiful gardens. There are fascinating displays of furniture and artefacts, set in rooms reflecting the different periods of the Priory's rich history. Lunch is available at the onsite cafe or you can bring your own picnic and feed the ducks in the moat ! Then in the afternoon we will travel on to Anne of Cleves' house - a stunning timber framed medieval house dating back to the 15th Century. The house was gifted to Anne by Henry 8th when their marriage was dissolved but she never lived there. It is a small property and we may have to split into two parties to view the house. 1 hour 15 mins travelling time. Tickets are £45. |

| Watts Gallery |
It was built to display the work of Victorian artist George Frederic Watts and includes the historic home and studios of the founders George and Mary Watts. We will also be able to see the Watts Cemetery chapel - a unique Grade 1 listed terracotta building - the work of the artist and designer Mary Watts. There is a cafe on site. 1 hour travelling time. Tickets on sale at March to May lectures. £50 per head. |

| Highclere Castle |
Tickets will be available at the first instance at the February meeting on the 11th and will cost £65 for non National Trust members and £55 for National Trust members. ( Please note that NT members MUST remember to bring their cards with them ) 1hr 15 mins travelling time. We will be going firstly to Sandham Memorial Chapel near Newbury, a world famous chapel containing Stanley Spencer's visionary paintings - an epic series of largescale murals created to honour the forgotten dead of the First World War. A short drive then takes us to Highclere Castle , the home of the Earls of Carnarvon , which developed from an estate owned by the Bishops of Winchester in Anglo Saxon times to a medieval palace bult by William of Wykeham. It was rebuilt in 1679 as Highclere Place House and transformed into a Victorian castle by Sir Charles Barry. It sits in a park designed by `Capability' Brown in the 18th century. It is famous as TV's` Downton Abbey ' ! |

All Saints is the only church in the world to have all twelve stained glass windows by Marc Chagall. We have booked a guided talk telling the story of the creation and installation of the windows. Nearby is St Thomas à Becket Church, Capel, with notable 13th century wall paintings. We have booked a tour with someone there available to answer questions. 1 hour 45 mins travelling time. On our return leg is Titsey Place, located near Oxted, a historic manor house and beautiful gardens, with tea room. We have booked a group tour. |

The home of William Morris described in the April 2023 lecture, 3 miles from Lechlade, with a manor house, tearoom, shop and gardens. We have booked a private group visit with exclusive access to the manor and grounds with a guided tour by experienced guides, followed by a delicious cream tea in the 5-star rated tearoom. 2 hours 15 mins travelling time. |
